An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM built into your device. There's no physical card to swap — just scan a QR code or tap a button to start using mobile data.

We recommend installing your eSIM on Wi-Fi before you depart. Once installed, it connects automatically when you arrive in Japan — no setup needed at the airport.

Your plan validity period begins from the moment your eSIM first connects to the network in Japan. Days do not count while you are outside Japan.

Yes. Install your eSIM within about 6 months of purchase — the exact "Install by" date is shown in My Page and in your confirmation email. If the eSIM is left unused past that date, it expires. Your data validity (e.g. 7 days) only starts when you activate it in Japan.

Before activation: if you delete the eSIM, you can reinstall it by scanning the same QR code again — it's always available on My Page. After activation (once used): a deleted eSIM usually cannot be recovered and may require a new purchase, and an eSIM cannot be transferred to another device. So please avoid deleting an active eSIM. If you deleted an activated eSIM or are switching phones, contact support with your order number and we'll check your options.

Compatible devices include iPhone XS and later, Google Pixel 3 and later, and Samsung Galaxy S20 and later. Your device must also be SIM-unlocked.

You can top up with additional data anytime from the app or your account page. You'll also receive an email alert when your data is running low.

yah.mobile is a data-only eSIM. Voice calls and SMS are not supported, but app-based calls via LINE, WhatsApp, and similar services work fine.

eSIM is a digital product. Once your payment is completed, cancellations and refunds are not available. Exception: if we cannot deliver your eSIM or top-up due to a technical problem on our side, your payment is refunded in full — automatically, to your original payment method. You confirm this policy via a checkbox before completing your purchase. If you have any questions, please contact us via chat before buying.

Each eSIM is tied to one device. If you need data on multiple devices, you'll need to purchase a separate plan for each.

Yes. yah.mobile runs on NTT docomo, one of Japan's largest networks. Coverage is excellent on Shinkansen routes and in major cities. Some rural tunnels may have limited signal.
